We’re Helga and Dave and we made the move from Auckland to Matakana in search of a gentler pace of life. We fell in love with this beautiful part of the world and feel incredibly lucky to call it home.
The Green Tent sits on our little piece of paradise, surrounded by peaceful countryside yet just a few minutes from the heart of Matakana Village. Our spacious Mongolian-style yurt has been thoughtfully designed to offer something a little different. A luxurious, completely self-contained escape where you can slow down, relax and enjoy the best of both worlds.
We love hosting and sharing our favourite corner of Matakana with our guests. With wonderful restaurants and cafés, wineries and breweries, boutique shopping, beautiful beaches and coastal walks all close by, there is plenty to discover. The Matakana cycle trail is right on our doorstep too, making it easy to explore on foot or by bike.
We’re always happy to share our favourite places to eat, visit and explore, and you’ll find plenty of local recommendations waiting for you in the yurt.
We live on the property and are only a message away if you need anything during your stay. Otherwise, The Green Tent is entirely yours to enjoy in peace and privacy.
